Create a Shot List

First navigate to Script Breakdown and import a script or screenplay into MoviePrepper. In case it’s a blank script or screenplay add at least 1 scene before you are able to create a shot list.

All the shot lists are linked to a scene.

2 ways to create a shot list

1st way: In Script Breakdown.

Navigate to Script Breakdown in the main menu or through the dash board.

A quick way of creating a shot list, only displaying shot number, shot size and description

  1. Click on the film strip icon (3rd icon) in the strip section.
  2. Click on the +Add Shot hyperlink.
  3. A Add Shot pop-up window will appear.
  4. Fill out the desired fields
  5. Click Add Shot
  6. The shot number, shot size and description will appear in the shot list.
  7. Repeat step 2 till 5 for every shot you want to add to the scene.

2nd way: In Shot List

Navigate to Shot List in the main menu or through the dash board. Here you can create a detailed shot list including following information.

  • Shot Number
  • Storyboard
  • Shot size
  • Shot Description
  • Angle
  • Movement
  • Lens
  • Frames per second (fps)
  • Shutter
  • Shot duration
  • Production Tags

Next: Navigate to the scene you like to create a detailed shot list for.

1st Option:

  1. Click on the Scene navigatior button.
  2. A pop-up window will appear showing all scenes of the current script you are working in.
  3. Navigate to the scene you would like to create a shot list for.
  4. Click the +add Shot button or hyperlink to create a shot.
  5. A Add Shot pop-up window will appear.
  6. Fill out the desired fields
  7. Click Add Shot
  8. A shot will be added to the list.
  9. Repeat step 4 till 8 for every shot you want to add to the scene.

2nd Option:

  1. Click on the < or > buttons next to scene to navigate step by step to the scene you would like to create a shot list for.
  2. Click the +add Shot button or hyperlink to create a shot.
  3. A Add Shot pop-up window will appear.
  4. Fill out the desired fields.
  5. Click Add Shot
  6. A shot will be added to the list.
  7. Repeat step 2 till 6 for every shot you want to add to the scene.

The Show Script button shows the scene in the script you are currently creating a shot list for.
